Hawks are the sprinters of the bird of prey world, with short rounded or broad wings and long tails for fast speeds over short distances. Some have broader, longer wings for soaring and gliding (i.e. Buzzards)

The Harris hawk is an unusual bird as it falls between a hawk (Goshawk,Sparrowhawk) and a Buzzard (Redtail,Common). It has the characturistics shape of a hawk but the relaxed temperment of a Buzzard ( Hence its scientific name 'parabuteo'-like a Buzzard). This is why it is favoured by many Falconers.

We now have 2 Harris Hawks in the flying team, Teal'c who joined our displays last year as Ky (our first Harris) tends to disappear if any dogs are around. And Baal, who's being trained to replace Ky.

Ky is going to be used for hunting/breeding with our female harris Peg.
