Vultures are birds of prey as they have curved talons and sharp hooked beaks for tearing but they differ in one important way- they're scavengers.They preform an important job of cleaning up dead and dying prey to stop the spread of disease.

 There are two families of vulture, the New World Vulture of the America's ( Black,Turkey and Condors etc) which are related to the Stork family and the Old World Vultures of Europe,Asia and Africa (Hooded,Griffon and Egyption etc)  which are related to Eagles and Buzzards etc.

 Vultures are truely amongst the most graceful and spectacular of all flying animals.They hold the record for the highest flyng (Griffon Ruppell's) at 37,000 ft (over 11,000 metres),to the largest wingspan (Califorian Condor)of over 10 ft (3 metres) and one of the rarest (Califorian Condor again).
