Hawks are the sprinters of the bird of prey world, with short rounded or broad wings and long tails for fast speeds over short distances.
The Goshawk is a native hawk of Great Britain, The flight is a characteristic “flap, flap, glide”, and can be found in both deciduous and coniferous forests.
Most falconry displays rarely use Goshawks as they can be very highly strung and are used mainly as a hunting bird.
The most common hawk used is a Harris Hawk, from America which are very versatile and can be used for display and hunting.
